Description from the seller
Welcome to this special sale of books by authors listed in the Photobook by Parr & Badger. 'Die Totem' is listed in Photobook, volume II, page 157.
This book is currently unavailable on the Internet.. 192 pages and 90 black and white photographs. Paperback edition with a soft illustrated cover.
Published in 1998, the book Die Toten (The Dead) by German artist Hans-Peter Feldmann gathers photographs of people killed in violent acts carried out by far-left terrorists that shook the Federal Republic of Germany in the 1970s and 1980s, but also France. The book consists exclusively of photographic reproductions taken from current press coverage. Designed as a chronological gallery of events, the book was criticized for mixing images of killed terrorists with images of their targeted or accidental victims. In the series of photographs presented, the first image shows the entire page, and the second is a zoom-in I made for better viewing of the images. This book was self-published by its author.
Hans-Peter Feldmann (1941 – 2023) is one of the major conceptual artists of the past forty years. A passionate collector since childhood, he has gathered thousands of archive images, mundane or kitsch. Feldmann's approach to artistic creation involved collecting, organizing, and re-presenting amateur snapshots, printed photographic reproductions.
To view the photographic series in full screen, double-click on a photograph, then you can return to the standard display at any time.
Copy in excellent overall condition with a slight defect on the right edge of the cover (see photo), from my personal collection and kept with the utmost care. Shipping is protected with reinforced packaging and guaranteed international postal tracking. For multiple purchases, there is the possibility of combined shipping with reimbursement of any excess postal fees paid via Paypal.
