Description from the seller
Peique Mata Los Pardos 2020 (6 × 75 cl)
DO Bierzo · Spain · 100% Mencía · Limited production (≈ 600 bottles)
This lot brings together six bottles of Mata Los Pardos 2020, one of the site-specific “Vino de Paraje” wines from Bodegas Peique in Valtuille de Abajo, Bierzo. It is a rare and critically acclaimed red, showing the character of old vines on poor sandy soils, minimal intervention winemaking, and excellent ageing potential.
Winemaking & Technical Details
Grapes sourced from ~90-year-old vines on sandy-soil plots in Mata los Pardos, some parts younger and others delayed in ripening to maintain natural acidity.
Fermentation with ~⅓ whole clusters, foot-treading in used 500-L French oak barrels; skin contact for 35-40 days with indigenous yeasts. Maturation: 12 months in same used barrels.
Alcohol: approx. 14% vol.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep ruby with violet rims.
Aroma: Notes of wild berries, herbs, and a subtle earthiness. Oak integration is polished; undertones of spice and dusty tannin add complexity.
Palate: Medium-to-full body, well balanced with fresh acidity, ample tannic structure, and richness without heaviness. Slightly dusty tannins give texture; the wine is harmonious and flavourful.
Finish: Long and persistent, with lingering fruit, herb, and polished oak echo.
Critical Acclaim & Rarity
Robert Parker (The Wine Advocate): 92 Points
Limited to approximately 600 bottles produced, making this a rare opportunity.

Cellar Conditions
These bottles have been stored under excellent cellar conditions — stable temperature, controlled humidity, and absence of direct light — ensuring preservation of aromas, structure and ageing potential.
Investment & Collector Appeal
This six-bottle lot presents a strong investment for collectors: a rare, vineyard-specific Bierzo Mencía with excellent score, traditional winemaking, and limited availability. It not only offers refined drinking now but also promises appreciation in value — both as wine and patrimonial asset — over the coming years. Perfect for those building a collection grounded in terroir, authenticity, and long-term quality.
