Italian hand-blown emerald green glass Schenkkan with a twisted stem, dating from circa 1950–1970.
Description from the seller
Italian hand-blown emerald green glass jug – (attr.) Empoli, ca. 1950-70
A beautiful and elegant decorative object, probably from Italy (circa 1950-70), made of emerald green glass with a clear, spirally twisted stem and base. The handle is stylishly applied, and the spout is gracefully curved. Height approximately 35 cm, base diameter approximately 9 cm.
The object owes its charm to its hand-blown execution, rich use of color, and unique finish with a twisted stem—a typical characteristic of mid-century Italian art glass. Refined details, such as the transition from the glass base to the body, demonstrate the craftsmanship.
The bright, spirally twisted stem is typical of Empoli workshops, including Vetrerie Empoli and Vetreria E. Toso Empoli. The underside of this example shows a rough or semi-polished pontil – exactly what you see in Empoli glass. Murano is often said to have a beautifully finished, smooth pontil.
Condition: In good condition, no significant chips or cracks (see photos). It looks like there used to be a stopper in it, I think.
This jug is ideal as a striking decorative element in a modern interior, on a console, in a display cabinet, or as a unique gift for lovers of vintage Italian glass. It can also be used as a flower vase (with care).
