Description from the seller
Tomás Postigo 5º Año is a red wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) and Merlot varieties produced by Tomás Postigo in the D.O. Ribera del Duero.
The Tomás Postigo winery began in 2008, when Tomás Postigo, a chemical researcher and one of the architects of the consolidation of the designation of origin since 1984, decided to make his own wines. As a point to highlight, it is the first winery that has received the Carbon Footprint, an ecological badge that guarantees sustainable, ecological practices that do not harm the environment.
In the vineyards of Tomás Postigo 5th year, limestone, sandy loam soils with stones and pebbles predominate and are located at an altitude above sea level of 750 to 1,000 meters. The harvest is carried out at the optimal point of maturation in small 10 kg boxes and is transferred directly to the winery.
In the winery, the grapes pass through the manual selection table and the alcoholic fermentation is carried out with native yeasts. Tomás Postigo 5th year ages for 12 months in French oak barrels. More than 30 different wines are obtained, some of which undergo malolactic fermentation in barrels; It is subsequently refined in the bottle for 40 years.
Tomás Postigo 5th year is only made in those vintages that are exceptional. Elegant, modern and well integrated, they have everything to be a great Ribera de Duero.
