Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Armorial seal in brass with a turned blackened wooden handle, dating to the 19th century, in an ecclesiastical style associated with the Congregation of the Very Saint Redeemer.
Description from the seller
Brass heraldic coat of arms – Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (Redemptorists) – 19th century
Antique case with a blackened wooden handle, turned, with a lateral reinforcement nail.
The matrix is made of solid brass, finely engraved, and oval in shape. The entire piece dates from the 19th century and is typical of ecclesiastical or internal administrative seals.
Seal of the Province of Southern Belgium of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer.
In the center, oval coats of arms crowned with a crown, surrounded by palmettes and ribbons, typical of 19th-century ecclesiastical style.
In the shield:
A radiant cross divided into four quadrants bearing the letters: A – M – S – R or A – M – X – R (a delicate reading but consistent with a religious emblem).
Lower patée cross, probably associated with the internal symbolism of the congregation.
This engraving is sharp, deeply carved: for official use, not decorative.
Dimensions: Total height: 11 cm - Matrix: 3.5 cm x 2.5 cm
Condition: Very good overall condition.
Consistent patina, no notable wear on the engraving. A few small signs of use on the handle (micro-scratches in the varnish). The brass shows a beautiful old oxidation in the recesses, which highlights the pattern.
Provenance: Private collection.
