Beautiful illustrated edition of one of the great frescoes of 20th-century French literature, adorned with approximately 150 original lithographs by Berthold Mahn, printed on the presses of Mourlot and hand-colored by Vairel and Beaufumé.
All lithographs were engraved by the artist and the stones erased after printing.
Printed in 3,300 copies, this one is among the 2,700 numbered on Vélin from the Papeteries d'Arches, No. 2727.
Paperback, covered with filled covers, folders and cardboard cases adorned with gold and black motifs. Impeccable interiors. Some scuff marks on the cases and a split on the edge. In very good condition.
Famous romantic series by Roger Martin du Gard, whose publication spanned from 1922 to 1940. It is particularly for this work that Roger Martin du Gard received the Nobel Prize in Literature in November 1937.
The cycle consists of eight novels: The Grey Notebook (1922), The Penitentiary (1922), The Beautiful Season (1923), The Consultation (1928), La Sorellina (1928), The Death of the Father (1929), Summer 1914 (1936), and Epilogue (1940).
