Royal Dux, Bohemia - "Stag Beetle" (21,5 cm) - ca 1965 - Figurine - Porcelain

Marvelous very rare porcelain sculpture of a “Stag Beetle” displaying large antler-like jaws, on a rock with foliage beneath, made by Royal Dux Bohemia, prestigious Czech porcelain factory since 1860. It is a highly eye catching porcelain sculpture, magnificent sculpted and glazed, painted in naturalistic colors. The Stag Beetle also called “Cerf-Volant”(fr.), is the largest beetle in Europe, with males having enormous, stag-like mandibles (jaws) used for fighting rivals. Males have a reddish-brown body and chestnut-colored wing cases, while females are smaller and have smaller mandibles. A Stag Beetle is seen as rare, symbolic of good luck, and believed by some to bring sudden wealth. These beliefs, along with collector demands, seem to have driven its market value upward. The Guinness World Record reports the Stag Beetle as the most expensive insect in the world. According to them, a giant Stag Beetle was sold for approximately 90.000$ in 1999 in Tokyo. It is in excellent condition, made in Bohemia (former Czechoslovakia country), marked accordingly on the back of the base, original golden label even on the top of the base, impressed numbered #468, NO chips, NO cracks and NO repairs, please see the pictures as they are part of description. Czechoslovakia, 1960 - 1978 Dimensions: Length: 21,5 cm Width: 11 cm Height: 8,8 cm It will be very carefully and safely packed ! With love and respect for the porcelain - “ The White Gold “
