Magnificent edition for bibliophiles, the first illustrated edition of Next Year in Jerusalem, the text of which was revised and corrected by the Tharaud brothers.

The remarkable illustration is due to the orientalist painter and engraver André Suréda, the beautiful 38 compositions (including 5 full-page illustrations) in the Art Deco style of oriental inspiration are engraved on colored wood by Georges Beltrand with highlights of gold and palladium.

Total print run of 400 copies. One of the 304 on pure rag Holland paper (after 96 on Japanese paper), bears the number 209.

Loose sheets under a folded illustrated cover. Double slipcase with a soft folder and box with marbled paper spine and covers.

Enclosed are two autographed notes signed by the authors Jérôme and Jean Tharaud: "Dear friend, Here are the proofs. Merry Christmas!"

A very fine example in excellent condition, slight wear to the engravings, but not serious.
