Description from the seller
Original work by Anke de Boer, a renowned Dutch illustrator responsible for numerous illustrations and drawings within the MARTEN TOONDER studios. She worked in the studio during the 1950s and 1960s. She is well documented in the studio's personnel records as an illustrator.
She particularly worked on the Kappie Hollewijn series, of which she was one of the main illustrators.
Unfortunately, at the time, women were not highlighted, and despite her significant contribution within the studio, she was never promoted as she should have been, and her work remains largely unknown to the general public today. She signs her works under the pseudonyms ANTJE, ANKE DE BOER, or ANKIE DE BOER.
