Enamel on a copper base in a mid-century modern style, with an estimated period of 1960–1970.
Description from the seller
Two vintage enamel trays, with a copper base, originating from Spain/Mallorca.
These small dishes were once popular as souvenirs or as 'vide poche,' a decorative bowl used as a serving dish or for small objects.
They are handmade, with molten glass applied to a copper base and baked, resulting in unique, vibrant colors and patterns.
Dimensions: smallest dish, 10.5 cm x 4.5 cm x 1 cm.
Dimensions of the largest bowl: 15 cm x 10 cm x 1.3 cm.
Luciferdooshoudertje, vintage copper, with enamel finder and flower.
This holder is probably from the beginning of the 20th century, roughly between 1900 and the 1920s. This period is known as the golden age for Chinese matchbox holders. Made with the cloisonne enamel technique, which often featured floral and butterfly motifs.
Technique: It concerns cloisonné enamel, where colored glass powder is applied to a copper or brass base, separated by thin metal wires.
Origin and Style: This type of object was produced in large quantities in China for export. The style is characteristic of the Asian decorative art of that time.
Characteristics: Many of these holders are unmarked and exhibit a less smooth finish than, for example, Japanese enamel, which is common for Chinese cloisonné from that period.
Dimensions: 4 x 5 x 2 cm.
Enamelled ashtray.
The ashtray with a diameter of 10.5 cm, made of red copper, with an enamel glaze in brown and green shades. This type of enamel work was popular in the mid-20th century.
Origin: Determining the exact manufacturer or country of origin is difficult because there are no markings or stamps present.
