Description from the seller
The K. B. Jäger Regiment No. 1 in World War I
The K. B. 1st Jäger Battalion König / The K. B. 2nd Jäger Battalion / The K. B. Reserve Jäger Battalion 2
With the complete maps and sketches and art prints.
A very detailed war history of the regiment that participated in numerous battles during World War I, including (excerpt from the war diary of the German Cavalry Division (6th Army)), to which the regiment was attached. The excerpt does not need to be 100% accurate for the regiment.
The battalion was initially part of the cavalry division (6th Army) at the beginning of the First World War, serving on the Western Front in Lorraine. During the attack on Ypres in October/November 1914, the battalion proved its worth at Hollebeke and Zandvoorde. In the spring battle of La Bassée and Arras, the battalion succeeded on May 9, 1915, in stopping the breakthrough of the 22nd French Army Corps south of Souchez through a counterattack. Afterwards, it was assigned to the Alpine Corps as part of the 1st Jäger Regiment, fighting from June 1915 against Italian forces at Tre Sassi. During the Battle of Verdun, the battalion managed to advance into the trench networks north of Fleury and onto the Fleury Heights from June to August 1916. However, the success could not be further exploited due to high losses and overall exhaustion. After being transferred in September 1916 to Romania, the battalion fought successfully at Sibiu. It remained with the Alpine Corps until the end of the war and shared its fortunes.
Condition: more pronounced signs of use and age on the brochure cover, inside: endpapers trimmed and reinforced with tape at the binding, pages at the beginning of the text block with waterstains, pages partly slightly wavy.
