Description from the seller
A large, black glossy tone Skyphos made of terracotta. Classic form in Attic-Archaic style with two opposing horizontal handles and an unglazed bottom. It features a sturdy foot ring with a recessed base. It was very professionally assembled from larger pieces.
The Skyphos is significantly larger than most similar items occasionally offered.
Origin: Magna Graecia/Southern Italy
Period: 4th – 3rd century BC.
Dimensions: H: 11.5 cm, W: 19.5 cm (without handle: 11.7 cm)
Weight: 290 grams
Condition: Professionally assembled from large pieces of body and handles.
Provenance: Acquired in 2025 from a reputable US antique gallery (previously, until around 2003, part of the collection of the Cypriot philanthropist and businessman George Paraskevaides, co-founder of the international construction and engineering company Joannou & Paraskevaides (J&P)).
The invoice from the American antique dealer will be made available to the buyer!
