Description from the seller

Rare 19th-century devotional panel with 'Fuga in Egitto' carved in sea foam, blown convex glass, and a shell basin in natural shell. Dimensions: 20 × 14 × 6 cm.

Suggestive 19th-century religious artifact depicting the Flight into Egypt: the Madonna seated on the donkey with the sleeping Child in her arms, accompanied by Saint Joseph and an angel in the background. The relief is made of sea foam, an organic material widely used in the 1800s for sacred works due to its soft and pasty finish.

The scene is protected by an original, bulged blown glass from the period, mounted in a dark wooden frame with a gilded inner edge.
Under the panel, a large ancient natural shell is applied, used as a domestic holy water font, perfectly intact and consistent with the devotional style of the period.

Normal overall weather signs.

Fascinating piece, intact in its structure, originating from private devotion and typical of bourgeois houses of the 19th century.

Photos are an integral part of the description. Guaranteed careful packaging entrusted to industry professionals.
