An actress who turned heads. A cinema icon of the 1960s, Claudia Cardinale died at the age of 87 ‘surrounded by her children’ at her home in Nemours on Tuesday 23 September. With her hazel eyes and captivating smile, the woman nicknamed ‘Italy's sweetheart’ charmed many famous actors. Despite their numerous attempts, Claudia Cardinale did not hesitate to reject their advances. In an interview with Public in 2015, reprinted by our colleagues at CNews, she revealed that Marlon Brando did everything he could to seduce her. "One day, in Los Angeles, Marlon came knocking on my door. He did everything he could to seduce me. He pulled out all the stops. When he realised it was a lost cause, he started laughing and said to me, “You're an Aries, like me,”‘ she recounted. She added, ’When he left, I thought to myself that I was really stupid and I kicked myself."
