AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

In this work, I cast my image into a misty cityscape and blurred the boundaries between reality and memory with oil paint. The geometric shapes and impressionistic brushstrokes reflect fleeting moments of loneliness and quiet energy. This piece creates a contemplative, almost ghostly atmosphere that invites you to feel the heartbeat of a city in transition – perfect for adding depth and mystery to your space. The work is not yet framed, but the depicted frame provides an indication. Directly from the artist who lives and works in Zwolle, Netherlands. More information can be found on his website. The artwork will be sent registered and carefully packed with bubble wrap and in a cardboard box.

Seller's Story

About the artist: By staying away from the real reality around us I try to evoke a nostalgic atmosphere. Atmosphere and space, which are not determined by all kinds of realistic details, but by simplicity, an often sober color palette, so that a certain color accent gets all the attention. Recurring image characteristics, such as shadows, volumes, accent color, strong contrast, nostalgia and humor are important recognizable aspects in my work in which emotions play an increasingly important role. Through technique there is a quest, different versions in technique, to explore the boundaries of recognizability (realism) in which old films and old documentary material are an important source of inspiration and basis for a starting design. And without losing recognisability and realism, the work must above all be a beautifully painted work, for the perception of the spectator and viewer distance. An extensive overview of reviews (accolades) and exhibitions can be found on my website, including a special collaboration with Hollywood legend Dick Van Dyke. Bert Heersema (1965) lives and works in Zwolle, the Netherlands.
