Very Rare Neolithic bone hammer-ax carved and polished, 15.2 cm long, found at Hetlingen, Schleswig-Holstein, from a private collection in the United Kingdom, dating to the 5th millennium BC.
Description from the seller
Hache marteau en os datant de la période néolithique.
A very rare Neolithic bone axe-hammer fragment, pierced in its middle. The hole was used for the indirect hafting of the stone into a sheath generally made of deer antler, which absorbs shocks and reduces wear on the handles. This evolution of axes around the 5th/4th millennium BCE influenced their morphology and size, which decreased, allowing savings in raw material and labor time.
