Brand CONTAX, model 137 MA Quartz + Planar 1,7/50mm + Yashica ML 70-210mm, tested and working.
Description from the seller
The camera is black and bears the logo CONTAX in gold yellow, typical of Contax models from the 1970s and 1980s. It appears to be a model from the Contax 139 Quartz series or similar, judging by the lines and dimensions, although the exact model is not legible.
• Objective: The mounted objective is a Carl Zeiss Planar 1.7/50.
• Manufacturer: Carl Zeiss (German manufacturer of high-quality optics).
• Model: Planar (a classic optical design).
Specifications: 50mm focal length (standard lens) with a maximum aperture of f/1.7 (very bright).
Coating: It features the T* (T-star) anti-reflective coating, which indicates the high quality of the lens treatment to maximize contrast and reduce flare.
Accessories: In the foreground, part of a black leather camera case is visible. A black carrying strap can also be seen.
Condition: The camera and lens appear to be in good aesthetic condition, with a classic and vintage look.
• Framing: The shot is a close-up that highlights the Carl Zeiss lens, which is the focal point of the composition.
Contax and Carl Zeiss
The Contax cameras, produced in collaboration between Yashica/Kyocera (for the body) and Carl Zeiss (for the optics), are renowned for the excellent quality of their lenses, especially the standard Planar 50mm f/1.7 lens, highly appreciated for its sharpness and beautiful bokeh (background blur). They show signs of use given their age, as seen in the photo.
