Condition:
Hardcover publisher's beige cloth, spine lettered in black on red, author's signature blocked in black to upper board, light-brown stain in good condition.
1st Edition. First Edition, First Printing with the publisher's "A" printed on the copyright page. Later editions do NOT have the "A"
Bookplate to FEP. Page clean but discoloured.
471 pages. Dimension: 21.0 x 14.5 cm

For Whom the Bell Tolls is a novel by Ernest Hemingway published in 1940. It tells the story of Robert Jordan, a young American in the International Brigades attached to a republican guerrilla unit during the Spanish Civil War. As a dynamiter, he is assigned to blow up a bridge during an attack on the city of Segovia.

The novel is regarded as one of Hemingway's best works.
