Magnificent Manbila jar - manbila - Cameroon (No Reserve Price)

This jar is an excellent example of the Mambila people's tradition of producing clay vessels in the Grassland region.

Among the Mambila, these jars are called 'tadep' or 'kike' and often carry spiritual attributes.

This particular jar features feminine characteristics: it has a triangular mouth resembling that of a frog and engraved dots above its head.

The exaggerated expressiveness of Mambila art is thus supported by a visual dynamism based on a sinusoidal movement: the eyes seem to burst out of the concave orbital cavity, which echoes the upper part, creating a play of curves and counter-curves that is reinforced by the roundness of the body and the delicacy of the neck.
