I possess an extensive private collection of unique, antique, and sometimes very rare sports items that I have collected and exhibited over 40 years at the Hans Brinker Schaats Museum.
Offered from the collection of the Hans Brinker museum: 1 pair of genuine antique Curl Toe ice skates
This pair of flat roller skates are true survivors. They were made somewhere between 1850 and 1900. Their origin is possibly England or one of the Scandinavian countries. These handcrafted skates were forged by a blacksmith. The nose and heel of the skates are decorated with brass materials. The rear brass heel plates show some tiny cracks at the corners. The handmade leather connections are of extra heavy quality and can be considered unique. (I have not seen this type of connection at the nose of the skates before in my collection.) The stitching of the rear leather heel connection is beautifully decorated with cross-stitching. The skate iron is made with a width.
It can be called over 2 1/2 centimeters high. The front of the ice skate is decorated with a beautiful flat curl. The financial value of this type of skate generally falls into a higher price range than average skates. A fine investment for the future!
