Description from the seller
Felice Carena (1879–1966)
Natura morta con frutta e rosa
Oil on board – 31×42 cm, with a frame measuring 45×56 cm.
Signed at the bottom right
Elegant and intimately lyrical, this still life exemplifies Felice Carena's painterly sensitivity, one of the protagonists of the Italian artistic scene between the two wars and a key figure in the revival of figurative language in the twentieth century.
The work shows all the typical elements of the artist's maturity.
The full-bodied brushstroke that shapes the forms with an almost sculptural construction.
The warm and harmonious palette, dominated by brown, green and pink tones, envelops the composition in a meditative atmosphere.
The central rose, captured in full bloom, becomes the luminous fulcrum of the scene, while fruit and small domestic elements are arranged in a simple and natural balance, reflecting the classic and collected taste that characterizes many of Carena's still lifes from the 1930s onwards.
This work perfectly represents the master's signature poetic realism, in which everyday life is sublimated through dense, sincere, and profoundly human painting. A remarkably charming panel, ideal for collectors of early twentieth-century Italian art or for anyone seeking a piece that fully expresses Felice Carena's signature style.
The work comes from the important Wannenes auction house as per the certificate it issued.
Careful packaging and fast shipping are guaranteed, with free delivery in Milan and surrounding towns.
