Artadi La Hoya - Paraje de la Hoya, 2022, six 0.75 L bottles, in original wooden case.
Description from the seller
There is strength in numbers, and if not, just ask Artadi, one of the great wineries in Spain, the result of the union in 1985 of a group of winegrowers from La Rioja Alavesa. Led by Juan Carlos López de Lacalle, a true visionary who knew how to establish a new concept of wines attached to the terroir, they produce transparent single-varietal wines that allow us to see the landscape of the wine-growing areas where they are born. Elaborations with which they have been able to reach the much desired 100 Parker points and that have given them the strength to leave the DOCa Rioja, in their commitment to "differentiation" as in other wine regions such as Bordeaux or Burgundy.
Among the great jewels of Artadi we find Artadi La Hoya, a parcel wine that comes from a 3.6 hectare Tempranillo vineyard planted in Elvillar de Álava (Basque Country) on deep clay-silty soils with the presence of organic matter on the surface. The cultivation is organic without the use of chemical products that could alter the natural balance of the terroir and the harvest is manual with selection of bunches and berries in the vineyard itself.
In the winery, the Artadi La Hoya grapes are destemmed and crushed to begin vinification in open tanks with cold maceration for 24-48 hours and fermentation for 10-12 days with two daily treadings and a small pumping over. The malolactic fermentation takes place in 225-litre French oak barrels where it remains for 12 months before being bottled.
The fruit of unique vineyards cultivated in expert hands, Artadi La Hoya is a wine that is sold before it goes on the market. A great opportunity to enjoy a broad, deep and rounded Rioja that does not marry with anyone other than its own terroir.
