Two Mayan Jaguar God Incense Burners, a Maya clay ritual object dating to 600–900 A.D., measuring 20 cm high by 15 cm wide and 15 cm deep and in good condition, with provenance tracing to a Miami estate.

Very rare Incense Burners found together in the Peten-Area, Guatemala
The Maya use these burners for ritual practices associated with the burning of aromatic substances and the use of Incense burners in the southern Maya lowlands during the Classic and Post-Classic. Incense burners re considered as important components of Maya ritual and religious paraphernalia through which communication with supernatural beings was enacted. Their forms and decoration were the products of specific principles of design and iconography that were commonly imbued with symbolic and religious meaning.
These two burners shows two Jaguar gods, excavated in the Peten-Area of Guatemala
Provenance :The two burners were found together. They are from an ex Miami Florida Estate. . original family estate that it belonged to was the DUENAS family. Originally brought into the us in the 1950s when the family moved to Miami. Sold to Mike Yeager collection in the 1990s
