Large and detailed military topographic map of Brussels, issued by the Military Cartographic Institute in 1934.
This map belongs to the official Belgian military topographical maps used for strategic planning, terrain reconnaissance, and mobilization. It provides an exceptionally accurate depiction of Brussels and its surroundings during the period between the world wars.
The map shows:
all main and secondary roads
railways
Elevation contours (spacing of 5 meters)
rivers and waterways
villages, hamlets, and city districts
Vegetation and relief structures.
Military relevant infrastructure around 1930.
It is clearly indicated on the map.
Raised and leveled in 1865 (first measurements)
Last revision in 1924.
Additions in 1937
