The New York-based news agency 'Associated Press,' founded in 1846, published daily strips between 1930 and 1960 but waited until 1942 to publish Sunday strips, such as this one.

Things to Come was created in the early 1940s by Hank Barrow (1905–1985), who presented future technologies in a more or less humorous tone. The title is certainly inspired by the science fiction novel by H.G. Wells, The Shape of Things to Come, published in 1933.
In 1949 or 1950, Jim Bresnan took over the role of Barrow and held it until the end of the comic strip, January 30, 1955.
