Abbé Prévost's Memoires et aventures d'un homme de qualité, a four‑volume réédition bound in vellum in French, published in 1772 by A La Haye, M. G. Merville & J. Vander Kloot, totaling 1060 pages across volumes 242, 243–520, 337,[1], and 338–540, with the last volume containing Aventures du chevalier Des Grieux et de Manon Lescaut and ex‑libris Max Brun.
Description from the seller
Antoine-François Prevost of Exiles, Abbot
Memoirs and adventures of a man of quality, who withdrew from the world
The Hague, M.G. Merville and J. Vander Kloot, 1772
4 volumes in-12 of 242, 243-520, 337,[1] and 338-540 pp.
Reused parchment binding, probably pre-16th century. Volume 1, and volumes 3 and 4, contain an old handwritten text in two different scripts, in Old French. The title page of the first volume is missing, the rest is complete. Some browning at the beginning and end of the volumes, more pronounced on the last two leaves of the second (probably due to the glue used for the binding).
The last volume contains the Adventures of the Chevalier Des Grieux and Manon Lescaut.
Ex-libris Max Brun (bibliographer specializing in particular in Laclos and Prevost).
