Description from the seller
Valentín Urios (20th century)
Apples
Technique: Oil on canvas
Measures:
Frameless: 55 × 47 cm
• With cornice: 76 × 67 cm
Refined still life created by the Valencian painter Valentín Urios, signed on the front and titled on the back 'Manzanas.' The work depicts a classic composition of ripe apples placed in a ceramic bowl, rendered with thick brushstrokes, a warm palette, and a strong chiaroscuro contrast that recalls the Spanish naturalist tradition.
The scene is constructed with careful attention to volume and soft luminosity, features that allow the subject to emerge from a shadowy and vibrant background. The work shows good depth, a particularly refined material rendering, and a harmonious composition, typical of the painter's still life paintings.
The painting is generally in good condition, with normal signs of aging. The elegant, crafted wooden frame is included free of charge.
The input is a dash character, which does not require translation.
Valentín Urios was a Spanish painter active in the second half of the 20th century, connected to the Valencian artistic environment. His work includes still lifes, landscapes, and genre scenes, often characterized by solid, classical, and luminous painting, in line with the realist tradition developed in Valencia between the 19th and 20th centuries. His skill in rendering surfaces, volumes, and chiaroscuro contrasts earned him appreciation in the local market and in high-quality decorative painting. His works appear in private collections and galleries within the Valencian Community.
