Frans Binjé (1835-1900) - Winters landschap met hoeve - Vlaanderen

Franz Binje (1835-1900) was a railway official and painter in his free time. He is part of the history of the artist colonies in Belgium. Binje was active in Tervuren, Anseremme, Knokke, and Genk.

Stylistically, his work evolves from realism to impressionism starting in the 1880s.

He exhibited in Brussels at the Cercle Artistique, as well as at the World's Fair in Antwerp in 1894 and in Berlin in 1896. His work was also shown at the Paris World's Fair of 1900.

This work is a fine example of colorful Belgian Impressionism from the late nineteenth century.
