The Sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM C is a zoom lens with a wide-angle range from 18mm (equivalent to 27mm on a full-frame camera) to 200mm telephoto (equivalent to 300mm on a full-frame camera). Compared to previous Sigma 18-200mm models, this lens is 11% more compact (from 75.3mm to 70.7mm) and lighter in weight, and it also features a macro function. This lens is specially designed for Nikon DSLR models with APS-C sensors.

The optical performance has also been further improved through the use of SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements with a high refractive index and excellent correction of chromatic aberration in the telezoom range. The aspherical lens elements, including two-sided aspherical elements, help correct distortion. One of the key features of this lens is that subjects can be captured as close as with macro lenses. The minimum focusing distance (measured from the camera sensor to the subject) is only 39cm, with a magnification of 1:3. The working distance (front lens to subject) is 14.7 cm, measured at maximum magnification. The lens design took all details into account, such as preventing reflections during macro photography by engraving the product name into the lens instead of printing it. New is the use of TSC (Thermally Stable Composite), which behaves like aluminum and metal under temperature changes. This results in even greater optical precision and allows for the use of more compact components. The Super Multi-layer coating reduces flare and ghosting, ensuring high contrast and sharp images even in backlight conditions. The specially designed lens hood further enhances this. The HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) provides high autofocus speed and operates very quietly. Thanks to the latest AF algorithm, even better autofocus performance is achieved.
