Description from the seller
Maria met Kind – bisque porcelain – Germany, Hutschenreuther – late 19th century
Professionally shipped — more than 850 five-star reviews worldwide.
Nice bisque porcelain depiction of Mary with the Child, made by the Hermann Hutschenreuther Porzellanfabrik in Probstzella. Mary carries the Child on her arm, and both are crowned, a reference to their heavenly dignity. Mary tramples the snake as a symbol of victory over original sin. The heart-shaped object with a cross that Mary holds against the Child's chest represents her pure and devoted love, fully focused on Him, and can also be read as the world she offers to Christ.
The pastel colors, floral details, and gilded accents align with the style of the atelier. The pressed little mark with an X and circled 'Dep date' dates the sculpture between 1889 and 1896.
The sculpture is approximately 40 cm high and is in good condition with normal signs of age and slight wear to the gilding.
Please look at the photos carefully, they are part of the description.
Shipped with track & trace.
