Description from the seller
Between 1935 and 1949, the stories of Tintin were published in the Portuguese magazine O Papagaio.
This is a very special series, because
For the first time, Kuifje was translated and published outside Belgium.
For the first time, the drawings were colored, even before Hergé did!
For the purpose of the format of O Papagaio, the images were 'manipulated' so that they could sometimes be displayed as 'portrait', and sometimes as 'landscape'/ oblong / a l'Italienne. In some stories, this alternation was done within a single issue!
Hergé was fine with O Papagaio publishing the stories – permission was granted – but he was not very happy that the images were distorted.
All in all, O Papagaio's issues are worth collecting for various reasons.
In this plot, you will find:
Ilha Negra / Ile Noire, from number 302, 23.1.41. In total, 13 copies.
Together with:
Adventures of Tim-Tim / The Mysterious Star. From issue 437, 25.8.43 to 31.5.45. 7 issues.
Please note: of the 7 copies of O Papagaio, 5 have been cut. The stories of Kuifje are undamaged, but it is very unfortunate that the magazines are so damaged.
In the last photos, you can see a detail indicating which numbers of O Papagaio are included in this plot.
The magazines are carefully packed and shipped via Post.nl, insured, and with the usual Track & Trace service.
Due to the uncertain situation regarding import tariffs with the US, we DO NOT ship to the US.
