Artist KARL LAGASSE
Karl Lagasse, born on April 4, 1981, in Paris, is a French artist. He is the creator of the sculpture One Dollar as well as the trophy for the 43rd edition of the Deauville American Film Festival.

Artistic career
Karl Lagasse's career began in 1996 with the sale of his first work in Antwerp, when he was 15 years old.
A few years later, in 2003, he prepared his first exhibition in Paris, where he displayed his works that blend collages and painting, as Yvaral Vasarely[4], the son of the Hungarian artist Victor Vasarely, had suggested to him during their meeting in 1998.
He began sculpture in 2004 and found inspiration while watching The White Nights [Which ones?]. He then started searching for his style and began the series of 'Buildings,' totem-like works made from various materials. That same year, he left Paris to settle in Normandy.

In 2006, Isy Brachot (a famous Brussels gallery) dedicated an exhibition to him. Only one painting did not find a buyer. Karl Lagasse then offered it to a collector who was unable to purchase it.
In 2008, he returned to Paris to exhibit at the Espace Pierre Cardin. Paintings, sculptures, and photographs are displayed. A film about the creation of the works is also shown.
2009, the year of creation of one of the artist's most iconic works, the One Dollar. A piece resulting from his admiration for the United States but also symbolizing what can be achieved with just one dollar; 'Making art with $1'.

In 2010, he was chosen to represent the commune of Deauville (Normandy) at the world equestrian championship 'Horsemania' held in Lexington (United States), a city twinned with the Norman seaside resort, for which he created a sculpture.
After the 'One Dollar,' whose success is international, he presents another work that will also become iconic, the 'Cryptogram One.' It was at the Art Monaco fair in 2011 that the public discovered it.
To celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival in 2012, he created a 'Building' measuring 2.80 meters by 60 centimeters wide, made of cement, wood, glass, and photographs in collaboration with Corbis, and displayed it at the Carlton Cinema Club. Artists present at the festival are invited to sign the work and leave a message. Notably, José Garcia, Michel Hazanavicius, Bérénice Bejo, Gad Elmaleh, as well as Cuba Gooding Jr., Tim Roth, Matthew McConaughey, and Zac Efron did so.
