We present for auction a lot of 3 mirrors/coat racks 'Gronda' by Luciano Bertoncini for Elco, an iconic model dating back to the 1970s that has made history in Italian design. This set is a unique and functional design piece, ideal for decorating your home with a touch of originality and modernity.
Design and History
The uniqueness of these mirrors lies in their ingenious tilting system:
2-in-1 functionality: The upper part, equipped with a spring, tilts inward, highlighting a hook that transforms the mirror into a practical coat hook.
Modularity: The individual modules can be used side by side to create a customized wall composition, or separately to furnish different areas of the home.
Recognition: The 'Gronda' coat rack project allowed Luciano Bertoncini to win second prize at the Abet Print competition in 1971, establishing him as one of the protagonists of Italian design.
Conditions of the Lot
The lot consists of three original 'Gronda' mirrors/coat racks and is in excellent condition for use.

Luciano Bertoncini (born in 1939 in Feltre) is an Italian designer and architect who helped define the style of Italian modern furniture. After working in Vittorio Rossi's studio, he collaborated with Joe Colombo, who included the 'Gronda' coat rack in the Elco catalog. Bertoncini also oversaw the executive aspect of Colombo's project for the exhibition 'Italy: the new domestic landscape' at MoMA in New York.
