Rare old edition of this amusing and very delicately coquettish book, which describes the life of 'libertine' women in the 18th century, dependent (or possessions) of madam courtesans, gigolos, lovers, and other courtiers.

Some traits of my life, Madame, which I have shared with you without consequence, and which seemed interesting to you; several singular anecdotes, which you have been informed of by the voice of the Public, have made you desire to learn all the details of my life.

Anonymous work whose original edition was published in 1754 under the shortened title: 'History of Mademoiselle Brion, known as Countess of Launay.'

The volume is illustrated with three erotic engravings outside the text, unsigned.

An original 19th-century photo featuring a courtesan reading was added to the first display.

Marbled havana sheepskin, smooth back decorated, gold title on leather piece, compartmented fleurs-de-lis. Triple gold fillets framing the covers. Red edges. (period binding)

Condition: Rounded corners, tear at the head of the spine. First flyleaf in marbled paper, partially torn. Interior well preserved, rare foxing. Good condition.
