Jorge Eielson's textile sculpture Codice di Leonardo (1996) is a circular knotted fabric artwork on a black lacquered wooden base, signed on the base (“J. Eielson '96”), 22 × 12 × 12 cm, Italy, in good condition with minor age-related flaws.
Description from the seller
Rare sculpture from the iconic Quipus series by Peruvian artist Jorge Eielson, titled "Leonardo Codex (1996)".
The work is made with a knotted textile and arranged to form a circular structure, almost an abstract ring, resting on a cubic base of black lacquered wood. The canvas features an abstract black and white pattern with red accents, recalling Eielson's interest in Inca quipus (ancient recording and communication systems based on knotted strings) and, in this specific case, Leonardo da Vinci's drawings and studies of knots.
The work is hand-signed on the base as shown in the photo "J. Eielson '96"
Dimensions: 22x12x12 cm
The sculpture is in good overall condition, considering its age. Minor material defects due to age are visible in the photographs.
Please carefully observe the photographs as they are an integral part of the description. Tracked shipping, including secure packaging, any customs duties, and taxes, will be at the buyer's expense.
