Carved meerschaum pipe (oriental portrait)

Antique meerschaum pipe, hand-carved and depicting an oriental portrait: a bearded face wearing a detailed turban, in the tradition of figurative productions from Eskisehir. Carefully crafted, probably dating from the early to mid-20th century.

The sculpture displays beautiful volumes: a wavy beard, the lines of the turban, and clear, coherent facial features. The pipe is made of an old synthetic material (ambrolite type) with amber variations.

State

Good overall condition.

Natural cracks in the meerschaum are visible at the turban (normal for old pipes).

Minor ingrained dirt and signs of use.

Slight chip at the joint between the stove and the pipe.

Patinated stove, interior colouring due to use.

Pipe in good structural condition.
