A beautiful set of two antique briar pipes, both made in Saint-Claude (France), the historical capital of pipe making.
Representative models of French artisanal productions from the beginning to the middle of the 20th century, including a pipe signed ROPP and a pipe marked “Racine de Bruyère – JBE”.
1) ROPP pipe – briar & stamped metal ferrule (ca. 1920–1940)
Classic briar pipe signed ROPP, with original horn stem and stamped metal ferrule. Lovely, even patina and well-proportioned bowl.
Typical model from the ROPP workshops of the 1920s–40s.
2) “Racine de Briyère – JBE” pipe – briar & brass ferrule (ca. 1930–1950)
A refined briar root pipe, marked JBE, with a stamped brass ferrule and horn stem. Beautiful gilt inscription "Racine de Bruyère".
Long pipe offering a cooler draw, characteristic of Saint-Claudian manufactures.
