The history of A.R. Penck, Markus Lüpertz, and the band 'TTT (Triple Trip Touch)'.
Each musician of the band TTT (Triple Trip Touch, freely translated: Three on the way to touch) is assigned a T. This eliminates the EGO and allows the musician to fulfill their role in the musical piece, whether solo or with other T's developed in this improvised structure. The resulting musical piece is an expression of the spirit of the era as well as the musicians' motivation for the instrument.
The band was formed as such in 1984 by A.R. Penck alias Ralf Winkler, Frank Wollny, and Heinz Wollny in New York. New York was the starting point for many new T's such as Lawrence Butch Morris, Reverend Frank Wright, Billi Bang Walker, Denis King Charles, Frank Lowe, William Parker, Jeanne Lee, Clarence C. Sharpe, and Lile Ellis.
The band toured through France, England, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Brazil, Ireland, Denmark, and Finland from London. After Heinz Wollny settled in Ireland, Frank Wright was brought to Rotterdam and lived there as a studio musician at Thelonius Monk Club. Willem and Coen Albert were at his side.
After the death of Frank Wright, the new TTT played with Alan Silva, Butch Morris, Louis T. Moholo, Jeanne Lee, and Gunther Hampel, among others also at the Cologne Stadtgarten. Through his friendship with Ingo Kümmel, Jesus Kanneloni and later Frank Köllges joined the band. After Ralf (A.R. Penck) remained in Ireland, Markus Lüpertz took over the place of A.R. Penck on the piano.
