Joshua F. Z. Brevio (also Joshua Felise Ziro Brevio) was born in Lodi, New Jersey, on January 31, 1900. He was a painter active in the mid-20th century, mainly in the figurative-landscape genre, with Italian subjects (Venice, Lake Maggiore, market scenes in Milan) and active between the 1940s and 1950s. One of his works, Venice (1959), is held in the collection of The Registry, University of Wales, and is listed on Art UK; Art UK records him as an artist born in 1900. There is also an artist file under his name at the Smithsonian American Art and Portrait Gallery Library. In 1962, he donated a painting titled Maternity to the City of Halifax (Nova Scotia), as evidenced by archive labels on the back.
