Arriving in Bologna on September 17th, I immediately traveled through various provinces and countryside; but I made sure to have your little letter sent very early after my arrival to your agent, Mr. Guido Gavasetti, which specifically mentioned the famous painting you have, already painted by G. Reni, and always mentioned as a beautiful work belonging to the Zambeccari family. Furthermore, I looked for Mr. Gavasetti at your house, but in vain. I have not seen him so far, nor do I know anything definite about the painting. This is what I can tell you.

I have not seen him yet, nor do I have any precise information about the painting. That is what I can tell you.
