Among the sixth-generation models launched in August 1981, the 2000 Turbo GT-E·S stands out as the most sport-oriented grade. Its elegant wedge-shaped body housed a 2.0-liter inline-6 turbocharged engine producing 145 horsepower. Suspension featured front struts and rear semi-trailing arms for all-wheel independent setup, with disc brakes front and rear. It pioneered the world's first mass-produced “Adjustable Shock Absorber,” allowing damper stiffness adjustment with a single switch. Additionally, it offered cutting-edge equipment for its time as optional features, such as the “Drive Guide System,” which read the Earth's magnetic field to indicate distance and direction to the destination.
