Art Nouveau coat rack made of solid oak with metal fittings, produced in the Netherlands and dating from circa 1900–1920.
Description from the seller
This decorative Art Nouveau coat rack is made of solid oak and features a central mirror, framed by two original English tiles. The tiles are marked with 'ENGLAND' on the back and display a typical early-twentieth-century floral motif in iridescent glaze.
The entire piece is in good condition, appropriate for its age. The oak wood has a beautiful, warm patina, and the mirror shows slight signs of use. The hooks appear to have been repainted in the past, and the screws used to attach them are not original. The tiles are intact and have retained their glossy iridescence.
The style, construction, and finishing indicate a Dutch origin. In the Netherlands, from around 1900, many Art Nouveau furniture pieces were made incorporating English tiles due to their quality and availability through import. The combination of oak wood with inlaid tiles clearly fits within that tradition.
The dimensions are 75 cm wide, 35 cm high, and 13.5 cm deep. The weight is 3.3 kilograms. Hanging points are present on the back.
Is carefully packed and shipped.
