Description from the seller
Giovanni Ospitali (Marzabotto 1927 - Florence 2016)
Watercolor on cardboard
In cornice: 58 x 38 cm
Cardboard: 40 x 20 cm
Giovanni Ospitali was a landscape painter who lived and worked in Florence.
He began painting in Bologna under the guidance of Giuseppe Rivani. Moving to Florence in 1949, where he immersed himself in the artistic environment, he refined his technique by dedicating himself to oil painting and especially watercolor.
His watercolors have been reproduced by S.A.F. (Stampe Artistiche Fiorentine), which handles their distribution in Italy and abroad.
In his work, Tuscan tradition is combined with Emilian colorism, evident in the evocative and delicate glimpses of Florence, Italian cities, as well as foreign ones, villages, and countryside, all consistently crafted with meticulous attention to detail, emotion, and technical skill.
In the 1950-1960 decade, production was almost entirely absorbed by foreign markets, primarily the United States of America and Canada.
Its watercolor stands out from the crowd due to a particular characteristic, based on the tonal vibrancy and brightness of the colors.
His works featured Tuscan historic centers, beloved Florence, Pistoia, Paris, Naples, and wherever his gaze fell to celebrate a place worthy of being captured and immortalized. He held about thirty solo exhibitions and around forty group exhibitions.
Authentic operation and in good condition.
