Description from the seller
Christofle Silver-Plated Serving Set – Model Marly
Elegant collection of 10 serving pieces from Christofle, France, in the prestigious Marly pattern.
This richly decorated Louis XV–style design, introduced in 1897, is one of Christofle’s most ornate and celebrated flatware models. It features flowing acanthus leaves and rocaille motifs that evoke the opulence of the late 18th century and remain timelessly elegant on any table.
The Marly collection takes its name from the Château de Marly built by Louis XIV in the west of Paris, which was to be totally destroyed during the Revolution. It is in this "country castle", where etiquette was less rigid.
Composition:
1 Cake or pizza server – 27 cm
1 Soup ladle – 32 cm
1 Potato or french fries serving spoon – 25.5 cm
1 Sauce ladle – 18.6 cm
1 Salad fork – 24 cm
2 Serving spoons – 24.3 cm
1 Serving fork – 24.5 cm
1 Serving knife/scoop – 27 cm
1 serving spoon – 25 cm
Total weight: approx. 1.5 kg
Each piece bears the Christofle hallmark with the OC (Orfèvrerie Christofle) initials and the scales and bee symbol — guarantee of fine French silver-plating craftsmanship.
About the silversmith:
Founded in 1830, Christofle is France’s most renowned maker of silver and silver-plated cutlery and tableware. The house has collaborated with legendary designers such as Luc Lanel and Christian Lacroix, and its pieces grace royal households and luxury hotels worldwide.
Condition:
Very good, with minor surface signs consistent with age and use. Bright silver lustre, well cared for.
A refined and complete serving set — perfect for elegant dining or to complement an existing Marly flatware service.
