This elegant tea caddy is crafted by Chabei Issai, a member of the renowned Chabei lacquerware lineage from Kanazawa, known for their refined Kaga-style maki-e. The design is executed with fine gold and green-gold powders layered over deep black lacquer, creating a detailed and naturalistic expression characteristic of this prestigious school. The piece is well-preserved and comes with its original signed tomobako. A beautiful example of traditional Japanese lacquer artistry, ideal for tea ceremony use or display.
The piece features a graceful floral motif rendered in fine gold and green-gold powders, blended with soft colored lacquer to create a natural, delicate expression. The smooth black lacquer surface enhances the subtle shimmer of the maki-e work, embodying the refined aesthetics of lacquerware.
