Vézère immerso nel sole - NO RESERVE, dating from 1940–1950, oil painting, France, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Jean Dufour (born in 1915, active in the mid-20th century)
Vézère bathing in the Sun - a very beautiful oil on canvas, signed at the bottom right.
Handwritten note on the back partially readable indicating 'La Vézère to...'
Rare and exceptional work for its sense of detail and its finesse of execution.
Jean Dufour's style strongly resembles that of René His (1877-1960), a master landscape painter trained under Lefebvre, Robert-Fleury, and Henri Biva.
Luminous depiction of the Vézère banks in Dordogne, a region renowned for the gentle valleys and the richness of its light.
Jean Dufour deploys a very harmonious composition: a leafy foreground opens onto a calm body of water reflecting the cliffs and mountains in the background. The afternoon light, golden and diffuse, reveals a keen sense of poetic realism.
Precise drawing and smooth paste convey a solid academic training, typical of French landscape architects of the mid-20th century.
Canvas dimensions: 61×73 cm.
Framed dimensions: 86x98cm.
An extraordinary beautiful original frame, probably older than the 19th century, is included in the sale.
The dial is in excellent condition, perfectly preserved despite its age, with some minor signs of wear to note.
The frame may have some minor touch-ups to the gilding and restorations, but they are not of great significance; its condition is not guaranteed.
An authenticity certificate will be handed to the buyer.
Easy delivery in China and Taiwan with minimal or no customs charges.
We have an office in Shanghai.
Our shipping costs include insurance up to the amount of the artwork's estimate.
