Description from the seller

First illustrated edition of the novel by Élémir Bourges (1852-1925), adorned with superb color etchings by Richard Ranft (full-page illustrations, vignettes, and tailpieces).

A very beautiful edition for bibliophiles, our copy without justification, but the print run includes 119 numbered copies. This one is on B.F.K de Rives watermark paper.

Paperback volume, embossed cover illustrated with an etching on the upper cover, accompanied by a double casing (slipcase + box).

Excellent condition copy. Very slight scuffs on the case. Cover and interior impeccable.

Richard Ranft (1862-1931) was a Swiss painter, draftsman, and engraver. He contributed to 'L'Estampe moderne' and 'La Plume,' for which he produced vignettes and engravings. He also participated in the Salon des Cent, notably with a solo exhibition in 1895. Between 1892 and 1913, he created several illustrations, including 'Mademoiselle d'Orchair' (1892), 'Le Crépuscule des Dieux' (1905), and 'L'Illustre Famille' (1913).
