Pallasite meteorite Sericho (Kenya, 2016), complete piece with olivines on the surface, Habaswein, Kenya origin; weight 35.9 g.
Description from the seller
In this lot, we are auctioning a beautiful complete piece of Sericho, a pallasite meteorite (metal-rich), first discovered in Kenya in 2016. It is a meteorite on which some olivines can already be clearly distinguished on the surface. It has a very aesthetic natural sculptural shape. Ideal for collectors of complete specimens, which are increasingly rare to find in this type of meteorites.
The 'Pallasites' are very rare meteorites that contain olivines in a metallic matrix. They originate from the mantle of large asteroids and account for only about 2% of known meteorites.
This small asteroid was initially called Habaswein, a neighboring city of the first fragments found, although the meteorite was officially named Sericho, the area in Kenya where the impact took place.
A fantastic specimen to add to your collection. Don't miss this opportunity!
We are members of the leading international associations related to meteorites, so we guarantee the authenticity of all our meteorites and jewelry made from this material for life. Buy with confidence.
