Nearly 2,000 related to The King’s life go to auction on Catawiki

Amsterdam, May 19, 2025 - From gold records, awards and personal items to rare vinyl records, merchandise, and autographed memorabilia, the entire collection of the largest Elvis Presley museum in the world is now up for auction. Fans of The King will have the chance to bid on unique items from one of the most fascinating figures in show business, starting May 20. From then on, a new auction will launch every two weeks on Catawiki, the leading online marketplace for special objects, featuring a curated selection from the Elvis Museum which is estimated to include nearly 2,000 items.

Elvis legacy

As this auction closes a unique chapter in music history it also opens the door for fans to welcome a piece of Elvis' legacy into their lives. Azing Moltmaker, current owner of the collection, commented, “The previous owner spent six decades building this collection. It became too much for him to manage at a later stage of life, but I made sure it was seen. Now it’s time for Elvis to find new homes.” Among the nearly 2,000 items in the collection, it’s no easy task to choose the most remarkable, but a few truly stand out for their rarity, backstory, and personal connection to The King himself, all of which are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

The most notable pieces from the auction are:

Make-up set used in Germany

This silver make-up set belonged to Elvis and was used during his military service in Bad Nauheim between 1958 and 1960. Engraved with his initials, E.P., it is a rare and deeply personal item.

Estimated at € 10,000-25,000

Signed napkin from Elvis’ wedding

A rare and intimate keepsake from Elvis Presley’s wedding day on May 1, 1967. The King kept it small, marrying Priscilla at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas. For a select group of guests, he signed hotel napkins with his name and the date. This unique souvenir is a dream piece for any true fan.

Estimated at €15,000-20,000

Copy of A Subtreasury of American Humour with Elvis’ annotations

A surprising and witty artifact from Elvis Presley’s bookshelf: this copy of A Subtreasury of American Humor is signed by Elvis on the cover and again on the title page, where he inscribed, “Did you ever have one of those awful days when everything just seems to go right?” The book also contains handwritten annotations, offering a glimpse into the King’s inner world.

Estimated at €2,000-5,000

Sunglasses and Teddybear owned by Elvis

Two pairs of sunglasses worn by Elvis Presley in 1976, these iconic sunglasses were later gifted to his first cousin and close confidant, Billy Smith. Also included is a teddy bear given to Elvis during his final tour: one he brought home and passed on to Jo Smith, Billy’s wife and a longtime member of Elvis’s trusted inner circle.

Estimated at €9,000-10,000.

1964 RCA Award

Far more unique than any gold record, this special award was presented to Elvis by RCA in 1964 to mark 10 years under contract. A rare, personal tribute from his record label, this is not something you’ll find again easily. The award reads, “we look forward to many more decades of record breaking sales and hits.”

Estimated at €5,000-7,000

Elvis Presley’s Gold and Blue Lapis ring

This dazzling gold and blue lapis ring was one of Elvis Presley’s personal pieces of jewelry. He later gifted it to Nathaniel Rook, husband of his longtime cook Nancy Rook, during her time working for him.

Estimated at €9,000-10,000.

Suit ‘Wild In The Country’ movie

A black suit owned by Elvis Presley and worn in the 1961 film Wild in the Country. It is believed Elvis purchased this suit in 1960 in Napa, California, during the movie productions. Elvis and his friends would wear black suits every time they would go to Vegas, lending them the alias “The Memphis Mafia” by journalists of the time.

Estimated at €5,500-6,100

Owned and used personal racquet

A rare relic from Elvis’s off-stage life: this green racquet was used by the King himself during racquetball matches in the early 1970s. Picture him at Graceland’s private court, white sweatband on, music turned low, smashing serves with style. This racquet simply finishes the picture.

Estimated at €9,000-10,000.

Brown leather short jacket

This 1970s brown leather jacket with white trim and fur-like cuffs was a favorite Elvis style, made by his go-to brand Vegas by Martin Bernard. His initials are stitched inside, a detail found on many of his clothes. He gave it away during one of his legendary closet clear-outs.

Estimated at €11,000-13,000.

A piece of carpet from the poolroom in Graceland

This fragment of carpet once lined the floor of the pool room in Elvis Presley’s legendary Graceland estate. The room was known for its kaleidoscopic decor and 1970s flair.

Estimated at €150-200.

Elvis signed fifties record player

A rare, remarkably well-preserved 1950s suitcase-style record player, signed by Elvis Presley. A compact icon from the golden era of rock 'n' roll.

Estimated at €5,000-8,000.

Alongside these ten highlights, other equally remarkable pieces will be available to bidders, along with hundreds of additional Elvis-related objects that make up the full collection. Among them: a personally worn and owned blouse, a signed original Change of Habit movie script, a sea-blue concert scarf bearing his signature, a signed 1959 issue of BRAVO magazine, and a signed tour programme. These treasures will be offered across a dedicated series of auctions running from 20 May through early 2026.

“Elvis didn’t just shape music, he shaped culture,” says Ariel Cabello, music and movies expert and department lead at Catawiki, on this landmark series of auctions. “From the phone he used mid-flight to one of his rings, these objects hold an intimacy you can feel. This is not just your regular memorabilia, it is a way to step inside Elvis’ mythical world.”

About the Elvis Museum
The collection, housed at the Beatles Museum Alkmaar, is estimated at nearly 2,000 pieces and includes unique items collected for decades by John and René Vis, founders of the former Elvis Museum in Culemborg. Due to health problems of John Vis, the museum came to Alkmaar in 2021, where the collection was incorporated into the Beatles Museum and further supplemented by pieces from Azing Moltmaker, who is now selling it to make more room for his Beatles collection.
