Solomons brings over 30 years’ experience spanning finance, e-commerce, and digital marketplaces, with a strong track record in board leadership. He has held senior board positions at Adevinta, OLX Brazil, Apollo Korea (Gmarket), and Distilled Media Group, providing governance and strategic oversight across Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
He served as Vice President of Corporate and Business Development, and Vice President of Strategic Investments at Ebay, where he led global M&A and investment activity. He holds a Master’s in Behavioural Science from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from the University of Melbourne.
“Catawiki has built something special: a trusted European online marketplace where enthusiasts discover collectibles, art, interiors, and luxury items through over 100,000 curated objects in auction per week. What excites me is the energy created when passionate collectors can find and purchase items they love from entrepreneurial sellers—many of them small businesses building their livelihood." said Mark Solomons, Chairman of the Board at Catawiki. “There's also a broader shift happening. Pre-loved items offer a more conscious way to consume, benefiting both communities and the environment. This trend has real momentum, and Catawiki is at the center of it. Joining at this inflection point—as the company is growing, profitable and with significant opportunities ahead—makes me genuinely excited about what's next."
Ravi Vora, CEO of Catawiki, commented: “Mark’s track record speaks for itself. Through his board roles at Adevinta, OLX Brazil and other international platforms, as well as his leadership at eBay and Morgan Stanley, he has helped shape and scale some of the world’s most successful digital businesses. We’re delighted to welcome him as Chairman. His board expertise, experience and perspective will be invaluable as we continue to grow Catawiki. I am personally very happy that he has chosen to be part of this journey and look forward to working with him.”
Solomons is already an active Catawiki buyer: “I recently bought a beautiful pre-loved Eames office chair, a timeless classic of mid-century modern design. It’s a category I particularly love on Catawiki.” he added.
